Fingerprint Friday – Butterflies?

Fingerprint Friday was started by Beki, at The Rusted Chain. It was inspired by the song by Steven Curtis Chapman that contains the line…”when I look at you, I can see the fingerprints of God.” To participate and/or visit all of the blogs that do, go to the Fingerprint Friday Post on Beki’s blog and follow the instructions.

Butterflies were going to be my Fingerprint of God today.
But God had other plans.
Dr. Alveda King stands up for the unborn, the innocents, those whose voices cannot be heard.
Dr. Alveda King, Director of African American Outreach for the Priests for Life,  is traveling to Washington, D.C. for the Restoring Honor Rally, organized by Glenn Beck.
The rally will be held tomorrow, August 28th, at the Lincoln Memorial where Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his famous “I’ve Got a Dream” speech.  The purpose of the rally is not to promote any political party as Rev. Al Sharpton and other “Civil Rights” leaders would have you believe, but to honor those who have humbled themselves to serve us by defending our freedom.  Dr. Alveda King will be standing up with other African American leaders to speak on the subjects of faith, hope and love and honoring God, our families and our neighbors.  Specifically, she will be speaking for those who are not given the opportunity to speak for themselves: the unborn.
Rev. Al Sharpton will also be in Washington, D.C. tomorrow for a March for Jobs and Justice.
A worthy cause, I am sure.
However, what is not a worthy cause is the way that Rev. Sharpton and other “civil rights” leaders are maligning the Restoring Honor Rally in general and Dr. Alveda King specifically, and saying that she has hijacked Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream and legacy.
How dare they!
Dr. Alveda King is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King and the daughter of his brother.
Dr. Alveda cannot hijack what is hers by birthright and blood.

Dr. Alveda King was asked to join the Restoring Honor Rally long before Rev. Sharpton planned his march. Rev. Sharpton did not invite Dr. King to attend or speak at this march.
So who is hijacking what here?
One can only wonder at his motives.
Those hijacking his legacy are those who would use Dr. King’s name for their own personal glory.
Those hijacking his legacy are those who would use Dr. King’s name to further their own personal agenda.
One does not need to wonder at Dr. Alveda King’s motives.
She does all that she does for the glory of God.
Dr. Alveda King is standing up for mercy and compassion, her uncle did that.
Dr. Alveda King is standing up for honor and justice, her uncle did that.
Dr. Alveda King is standing up for the innocents and the forgotten her uncle did that.
Dr. Alveda King is standing up for those who cannot speak for themselves, her uncle did that.
Dr. Alveda King is standing up for freedom, her uncle did that.
Dr. Alveda King is standing up for life and the sanctity of life, her uncle did that.
Dr. Alveda King is not hijacking Martin Luther King’s legacy, she is continuing his legacy for the glory of God.

She is going to Washington to speak for the honor of the unborn.
She will be speaking for all the women who are choosing to be silent no more.
We are the women who made the choice that was given to us by our government.
We are the women who now realize that we should not have made a choice.
We are the women who regret the choice that we made daily.
We are the women who choose to bring to light the lies of those who say that a fetus is a just a mass of tissue and not a human life.
We are women who chose abortion and we are the women who now choose to be Silent No More.

How interesting that I was planning to use a butterfly as my fingerprint today and in a way I still am…the butterfly of Silent No More:

Make a Choice - Choose Life
Silent No More

Thank you Dr. King for all you do to protect the lives of the unborn.
I know that you do not like to be thanked for what you do and ask that we thank God instead.
I do thank God but I also thank you for helping me to see that I can be silent no more.
Take heart Dr. King and remember the words of the One you love:
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”  Jesus, Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5:10-12

Today, Dr. Alveda King is my fingerprint of God.

To my friends who are shocked, I hope you will forgive me. I made a bad choice but God can make good out of the bad for those who love him and are called according to his purpose. His purpose for me now is to stand against abortion and stand with those who will be silent no more.  If I lose a friend for my past or my stance, then I will gain another for my future. I hope you will all be in my future.

Have a good weekend.

  1. I was listening to her speak today and what a wonderful woman..praying for all their safety tomorrow..Will be listening to them at 10 to 1 on c-span..I think I have that right..
I was questioned when I became pregnant at 40, what was I going to do..???I looked at the person and said..What do you mean? I am having a baby..what else would I do?..my baby is married now, 29 and she has a baby..think what we would have missed..but there was never any thought of anything different. Those pushing abortion, have already been born..heard that from a person that was for life…Good blog and I am like you..not afraid to stand up for what is right..Happy Fingerprint Friday..
