What would St. Paddy’s Day be without an Irish toast….
Here’s to the land of the Shamrock so green,
Here’s to the ones we love dearest and most.
May God bless ole Ireland,
That’s an Irish man’s toast.
My Grandfather Orgain doing an Irish Jig. He looks a wee bit like a leprechaun doesn’t he?You might think he looks as if he’s had one too many, but he was a teetotaler and would not drink alcohol even when the doctors told him a drink a day would help his heart! But he had a jovial nature and loved to party.
And a Pocketful of Irish Blessings…
May those who love us, love us.
And for those who don’t love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if he can not turn their hearts
May he turn their ankles,
So we may know them by their limping.
May your neighbors respect you,
Troubles neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And Heaven accept you.
May you have warm words on a cold evening,
a full moon on a dark night,
and the road downhill all the way to your door.
May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you’re dead.
May your joys be as bright as the morning,
And your sorrows merely be shadows that fade,
In the sunlight of love.
And last but not least, my very own Irish blessing for you…
May your friends always be faithful
May your love always be true
May your days all be good ones
And may God always smile on you.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, my friends!
Ha Ha! The poems are funny and heartwarming at the same time!
