Fingerprint Friday – Oh Deer!

Fingerprint Friday was started by Beki, at The Rusted Chain. It was inspired by the song by Steven Curtis Chapman that contains the line…”when I look at you, I can see the fingerprints of God.” To participate and/or visit all of the blogs that do, go to the Fingerprint Friday Post on Beki’s blog and follow the instructions.

We often see deer passing through our pastures on their way to water. It is usually just a flash of brown and white leaping over the fence and then gone from sight.  This morning, I was looking out the kitchen window and saw a large deer walking towards the house. She turned and started down one of the driveways. Of course, I ran to get my camera and I snagged a few shots of her from the house. Then she disappeared and I went outside and saw her under the pear trees and took a couple of shots. I was afraid I would spook her so I went back to the house and into the fence around the pool, thinking I could get some photos of her from there…but she was no where to be found. After looking at the photos, I realized she had seen me take the last shot of her and I am sure she took off while I was on my way into the fence. Oh, well. It was fun to watch her for that tiny little while.

Coming over the hill–I wonder if anyone’s home down there?
Yes, I am beautiful and so graceful!

Being Cautious–Is Anybody Looking?

Munching on a Pears
Can you see her face behind the leaves?  She spotted me and that was it!
Next time, if there is one, I will let her eat the pears in peace.

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.” Psalm 42:1

  1. Oh, what a beauty and great photos! We had one in our yard last Sunday. We tiptoed around watching her from inside the house for quite awhile, making sure the dog didn't see her and bark. I hated to disturb her but after awhile I had to leave for church. As soon as I closed the front door, she was off in a flash and I watched her little white tail bobbing into the woods.

  2. Strangely enough i was just saying to a friend today there is something truly spiritual about seeing a deer. I was cycling with my niece in the woods the other day and we saw a deer, cautiously edged toward her and got quite close before she disappeared into the trees. Of course my camera was sitting on the table at home!
Well done to you for capturing her!
a fav fpf for me, ty : )
